Rybelsus (semaglutide tablets) is available on prescription in Singapore for type 2 diabetes; weight-loss use is off-label (NDF). At GetLean it costs S$288 a month at 3 mg and S$388 at 7 mg or 14 mg, including medication, delivery, reviews and daily coaching. Dr Quek assesses suitability at a S$20, 30-minute first video consultation.
All-in means Dr Quek's video consultations and reviews, the medication delivered to you, and daily WhatsApp coaching. The S$20 consultation is refunded in full if he decides medication is not right for you.
Rybelsus, an oral semaglutide, is registered in Singapore in three tablet strengths (HSA register), and has been since June 2021. Its registered indication is type 2 diabetes. The trials that produced weight-loss figures comparable to the injection used 25 mg and 50 mg once daily — doses that do not appear anywhere on Singapore's register. Those obesity-trial results describe higher doses, not the 3–14 mg tablets prescribed here.
Availability in Singapore. This medicine is registered with Singapore's Health Sciences Authority for type 2 diabetes only. It has no registered weight-management indication here, so prescribing it for weight is off-label: a decision only a doctor who has assessed you can make, and one they may decide against. Which medicine suits a particular person, if any does, is decided by the doctor who assesses them.
How does GetLean assess whether Rybelsus suits me?
Dr Quek decides at a 30-minute video consultation whether Rybelsus, an injection or no medication suits you. Rybelsus is registered for type 2 diabetes; prescribing it for weight is an off-label decision after assessment (NDF).
- Book your consult. Tell us about your health conditions, goals and any medicines you take.
- Meet Dr Quek by video. The first consultation is S$20, refunded in full if he decides medication is not right for you. A consultation does not guarantee a prescription.
- If he prescribes it, the medication is delivered to you, with daily WhatsApp coaching and Dr Quek's monthly reviews.
The GetLean GLP-1 programme includes a personalised nutrition and daily activity plan. The plan for coming off is the GetLean GLP-1 Taper Plan: after hitting your goal weight with the right nutrition and exercise habits built, the dose is stepped down at Dr Quek's monthly reviews towards your lowest effective dose and, where clinically appropriate, off the medication. Individual results vary.
How much does Rybelsus cost in Singapore?
At GetLean the monthly price follows the Rybelsus dose Dr Quek prescribes, and everything is in it:
| Rybelsus tablet strength | GetLean, per month, all-in |
|---|---|
| 3 mg | S$288 |
| 7 mg | S$388 |
| 14 mg | S$388 |
| First video consultation with Dr Quek (30 minutes) | S$20, refunded in full if he decides medication is not right for you |
| After the taper: daily coaching and a monthly review, no medication | S$88, if you wish |
Rybelsus is registered in Singapore for type 2 diabetes only. Prescribing it for weight is off-label, and Dr Quek decides at your consultation whether it, an injection, or no medication suits you.
What the monthly price covers:
- Doctor video consultation and ongoing medical oversight by Dr Quek
- The medication, as prescribed, delivered discreetly to you
- A personalised nutrition and daily activity plan
- Daily WhatsApp coaching, and your care team on WhatsApp from 9am to 9pm every day, Singapore time. Outside those hours an urgent symptom does not wait for a reply: go to an emergency department, or call 995 if it is an emergency.
- Dose reviews that work toward your lowest effective dose
Why the price moves with the dose. The price is set by the dose, so it can change at a monthly review: up to S$388 if Dr Quek steps the dose up past 3 mg, and back to S$288 as he steps it down during the taper. Billing is monthly, with the medication included. The pricing page sets out the whole programme.

What is registered here
Three tablet products — 3 mg, 7 mg and 14 mg — approved on 1 June 2021 and classified Prescription Only (HSA register).
Section 4.1 is short: indicated for the treatment of adults with insufficiently controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycaemic control as an adjunct to diet and exercise, either as monotherapy where metformin is inappropriate or in combination with other diabetes medicines (NDF).
That is the entire indication. There is no weight-management wording in it.
Which semaglutide tablets are registered in Singapore?
Singapore's register lists Rybelsus at 3 mg, 7 mg and 14 mg, not the higher-dose Wegovy pill approved abroad (HSA register).
| Tablet | Registration and availability | What that means for a Singapore reader |
|---|---|---|
| Rybelsus 3 mg, 7 mg and 14 mg | Registered 1 June 2021; Prescription Only; type 2 diabetes indication | GetLean supplies it after assessment; weight-loss prescribing is off-label |
| Wegovy tablet, with a 25 mg maintenance dose abroad | US approval 22 December 2025; no Wegovy tablet on the Singapore register used for this page | Not a locally registered substitute for Rybelsus; GetLean does not supply it |
Sources: HSA register, Singapore NDF and the FDA approval letter. The Wegovy pill in Singapore compares the labels and trial doses; needle-free GLP-1 options compares the oral and injectable routes.
Why a peptide can be a tablet at all
Semaglutide is a peptide — a short chain of amino acids — and the digestive system exists to take those apart. Swallowed on its own, it would be broken down before any of it reached the bloodstream.
The tablet exists because it is formulated to carry a small fraction of the dose across the stomach lining before that happens. That is also why its label sets conditions on how it is taken that an injection has no need for: the absorption is fragile, and what is in the stomach at the time changes it.
How a specific medicine is taken belongs on a prescription and in a conversation with the doctor or pharmacist dispensing it, not on a public page.
The doses the obesity trials used
Two published phase 3 trials tested oral semaglutide for weight, and neither used a dose registered in Singapore.
OASIS 4 studied 25 mg once daily in 307 adults with overweight or obesity and without diabetes. Mean weight change at week 64 was −13.6% against −2.2% with placebo (Wharton 2025).
OASIS 2 studied 50 mg once daily in 201 adults in Japan and South Korea, with or without type 2 diabetes. Mean weight change at 68 weeks was −14.3% against −1.3% with placebo (Kadowaki 2025).
Individual results vary and are not guaranteed.
Trial evidence is not registration, and this is the clearest example of it in the whole class. Both results are real, published in major journals, and neither describes a product anyone in Singapore can be prescribed. The registered strengths stop at 14 mg (HSA register).
Anyone who has read that "the pill works about as well as the jab" has read something arguable about a dose that is not on the local register.
The trial worth knowing about regionally
OASIS 2 is the closest thing to relevant local evidence anywhere in this cluster, and it is worth being exact about why.
It ran in Japan and South Korea, in an East Asian population — a population that, as the trial's own framing notes, develops weight-related complications at lower BMI thresholds than the populations most of these trials recruit. Almost every other trial in this class was run predominantly in North America and Europe.
Japan and South Korea are not Singapore, and 201 participants is a small trial. It is regional evidence, not local data, and it should be read as the former.
What "off-label" means here
Off-label: prescribing a registered medicine for a use its registered indication does not cover. It is lawful and it is ordinary medicine — a doctor takes responsibility for a judgement that the evidence supports the use for that patient.
The decision belongs to the doctor, turns on their assessment of one person, and is theirs to decline. GLP-1 medicines may be dispensed in Singapore only by a registered doctor or a licensed retail pharmacy, against a valid prescription (MOH 2024).
A doctor who wants more information before prescribing is not refusing you. It usually means some further checks are worth doing first, so that treatment can begin safely.
If the needle is the obstacle
That is a real reason and a common one, and it deserves a better answer than a licence number.
The needle on these pens is short and fine, and most of what people dread turns out not to be the part that happens. We cover what the injection actually involves in your first GLP-1 injection, and what to do when the fear is the obstacle rather than the medicine in afraid of needles.
The registered picture for needle-free options, and what it means for someone weighing them up, is set out in our page on needle-free GLP-1 options.
The other oral GLP-1, which is also not here
There is now a second oral GLP-1 medicine in the world, and it is a different kind of molecule — not a peptide at all, which means it does not need the absorption workaround this tablet is built around. It is approved in the United States and is not registered in Singapore.
A semaglutide tablet at 25 mg for weight management, the Wegovy pill, is also approved abroad and is not registered here: see the Wegovy pill in Singapore. We cover the other oral GLP-1, and the two agents still in trials, in what is actually coming.
Whether any treatment is suitable for you is a decision for a doctor who has assessed you.
What happens when you stop Rybelsus (oral semaglutide)?
The US tablet label reports an elimination half-life of about one week and semaglutide remaining in circulation for about five weeks after the last tablet dose in people with type 2 diabetes (oral semaglutide label). The weight figures usually quoted come from injection trials and are not applied to the tablet. If Rybelsus was prescribed for type 2 diabetes, stopping or changing it belongs to the doctor managing the diabetes. For weight, coming off Rybelsus is planned through the GetLean GLP-1 Taper Plan, with a step-down at Dr Quek's monthly reviews towards the lowest effective dose and, where clinically appropriate, off the medication; daily WhatsApp coaching builds the habits. Individual results vary. Never stop or change a prescribed medicine on your own. Coming off a GLP-1 tablet covers what is known and what is not.
What side effects should I discuss before choosing a tablet?
Oral semaglutide can cause digestive side effects. In the US label's pooled diabetes trials, nausea was reported by 11% on 7 mg and 20% on 14 mg against 6% on placebo; gastrointestinal reactions led 4% and 8% to stop, against 1% on placebo (US tablet label). These are diabetes-trial figures, not promised outcomes for a weight-management programme. Singapore's contraindication is hypersensitivity to semaglutide or any of the tablet's other ingredients (NDF).
The tablet-options guide covers the oral-label safety data; the GLP-1 side-effects guide explains symptoms and when to seek help. At GetLean, anything clinical goes to Dr Quek through the care team on WhatsApp. An urgent symptom does not wait for a reply or the next monthly review.
Common questions
How much is Rybelsus in Singapore per month?
At GetLean, S$288 a month at 3 mg and S$388 a month at 7 mg and 14 mg, all-in: Dr Quek's consultations and reviews, the medication delivered to you, and daily WhatsApp coaching. Rybelsus is registered in Singapore for type 2 diabetes only, so prescribing it for weight is off-label and Dr Quek's decision. The first video consultation is S$20, refunded in full if he decides medication is not right for you.
Does the price change when the dose changes?
Yes. The monthly price follows the dose: S$288 at 3 mg, S$388 at 7 mg and 14 mg. It can move up when Dr Quek steps the dose up and back down as he steps it down during the taper. Billing is monthly, with the medication included.
Is Rybelsus available in Singapore?
Yes. Three tablet strengths — 3 mg, 7 mg and 14 mg — were registered on 1 June 2021 and are classified Prescription Only (HSA register).
Can Rybelsus be used for weight loss here?
Its registered indication is type 2 diabetes, and nothing else (NDF). Prescribing it for weight would be off-label — lawful, ordinary medicine, and entirely the decision of a doctor who has assessed you rather than something a patient can arrange.
Is the pill as effective as the injection?
The trials that produced comparable weight loss used 25 mg and 50 mg once daily (Wharton 2025, Kadowaki 2025). Singapore's register stops at 14 mg (HSA register). So the honest answer is that the doses behind those figures are not registered here in any product. Individual results vary and are not guaranteed.
Why does a tablet need special handling when an injection does not?
Because semaglutide is a peptide, and peptides are normally broken down in the stomach before they can be absorbed. The tablet is formulated to get a small fraction of the dose across the stomach lining, which is why its label sets conditions on how it is taken that an injection has no need for.
Has oral semaglutide been tested in East Asian adults?
OASIS 2 ran in Japan and South Korea, in 201 East Asian adults with overweight or obesity, with or without type 2 diabetes (Kadowaki 2025). It is the closest regional evidence in this class. Japan and South Korea are not Singapore, and it is not local data.
Can a normal GP prescribe Rybelsus?
A doctor can prescribe Rybelsus after assessing whether it is appropriate. It is Prescription Only in Singapore, registered for type 2 diabetes; prescribing it for weight is off-label (HSA register; NDF). At GetLean, Dr Quek makes that decision at a S$20, 30-minute video consultation.
Can I get Rybelsus over the counter in Singapore?
No. Rybelsus is Prescription Only, not an over-the-counter slimming tablet (HSA register). MOH says GLP-1 medicines may be dispensed only by a registered doctor or a licensed retail pharmacy against a valid prescription (MOH 2024).
How much would three months of Rybelsus cost?
GetLean bills Rybelsus monthly: S$288 at 3 mg and S$388 at 7 mg or 14 mg, all-in. The three-month total depends on the doses Dr Quek prescribes at your reviews; medication is not sold prepaid as a three-month package. The first consultation is S$20; pricing gives the included services.
Is Rybelsus 25 mg or 50 mg available in Singapore?
No oral semaglutide tablet above 14 mg appears in the Singapore register used for this page (HSA register). OASIS 4 tested 25 mg and OASIS 2 tested 50 mg; those doses are not the locally registered Rybelsus strengths (Wharton 2025; Kadowaki 2025).
Is Rybelsus the same as Ozempic?
They contain the same molecule, semaglutide, but Rybelsus is a tablet and Ozempic is an injection. Both are registered in Singapore for type 2 diabetes, not weight management (HSA register; Ozempic in Singapore). GetLean supplies Rybelsus after assessment and prescribes injectable semaglutide as Wegovy for weight management where appropriate.
Is Rybelsus the same as Mounjaro?
No. Rybelsus is oral semaglutide; Mounjaro is injectable tirzepatide. Singapore registers Rybelsus for type 2 diabetes, while current Mounjaro registrations include weight management (NDF oral semaglutide; NDF tirzepatide). The tablet-options guide explains the different routes without treating separate trials as a head-to-head comparison.
Is Rybelsus the same as the Wegovy pill?
Both contain semaglutide, but they are different tablet products and doses. Rybelsus is registered here at 3 mg, 7 mg and 14 mg for type 2 diabetes; the Wegovy tablet approved abroad for weight management is not registered in Singapore (HSA register; FDA).
Who should not take Rybelsus?
Singapore's product information contraindicates Rybelsus in anyone hypersensitive to semaglutide or any of its other ingredients (NDF). Dr Quek reviews your health history and other medicines before deciding whether any GLP-1 medicine is appropriate; a consultation does not guarantee a prescription.
What side effects can Rybelsus cause?
Digestive effects are common in the oral semaglutide label. In pooled US diabetes trials, nausea occurred in 11% on 7 mg and 20% on 14 mg against 6% on placebo (US tablet label). Those figures describe that trial population; the tablet-options guide and GLP-1 side-effects guide give more context.
What happens when you stop taking Rybelsus?
The US tablet label reports an elimination half-life of about one week and semaglutide remaining in circulation for about five weeks after the last tablet dose in people with type 2 diabetes (oral semaglutide label). At GetLean, coming off Rybelsus for weight follows the GetLean GLP-1 Taper Plan, with dose changes decided at Dr Quek's monthly reviews towards the lowest effective dose and, where clinically appropriate, off the medication. Injection-trial regain percentages are not applied to the tablet; if Rybelsus was prescribed for diabetes, discuss any change with the doctor managing it.
