Wegovy (semaglutide) is available on prescription in Singapore. At GetLean it costs S$488 a month at 0.25 to 1 mg, S$788 at 1.7 and 2.4 mg and S$1,088 at 7.2 mg (max dose), all-in with Dr Quek’s reviews, delivery and daily WhatsApp coaching. Book your S$20 video consult; Dr Quek decides if it suits you.
Wegovy is the name under which semaglutide 2.4 mg is registered in Singapore (HSA register), as an injection licensed for weight management, and has been since 2023. The same molecule at lower doses is registered here as Ozempic, for type 2 diabetes only (NDF) — the product behind the "Ozempic face" nickname. Wegovy vs Ozempic sets the two side by side. Since August 2025 Wegovy's Singapore label has carried a second, separate indication: reducing the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events in adults who already have cardiovascular disease alongside obesity or overweight. It is prescription-only. The label also carries an optional higher dose, 7.2 mg once weekly, given as three 2.4 mg injections, which has its own page.
Availability in Singapore. This medicine is registered with Singapore's Health Sciences Authority, and its registered indication includes weight management. Which medicine suits a particular person, if any does, is decided by the doctor who assesses them.
How do I get a Wegovy prescription in Singapore?
At GetLean, Dr Quek assesses you at a 30-minute video consultation and decides whether Wegovy is appropriate. A consultation does not guarantee a prescription.
- Book your consult. Tell us about your health conditions and any GLP-1 medication you already take.
- Meet Dr Quek by video. He reviews your history and goals and decides whether a GLP-1 medication suits you, and which one.
- If he prescribes it, the medication is delivered to you, with daily WhatsApp coaching and Dr Quek's monthly reviews.
The GetLean GLP-1 programme brings the medication, habits and planned taper together. The plan for coming off is the GetLean GLP-1 Taper Plan: after hitting your goal weight with the right nutrition and exercise habits built, the dose is stepped down at Dr Quek's monthly reviews towards your lowest effective dose and, where clinically appropriate, off the medication. Individual results vary.
For symptoms during treatment, Wegovy side effects explains the label and when to seek help. Anything clinical goes to Dr Quek through the care team on WhatsApp; an urgent symptom does not wait for the next monthly review.
How much does Wegovy cost in Singapore?
At GetLean the monthly price follows the Wegovy dose Dr Quek prescribes, and everything is in it:
| Wegovy dose (once weekly) | GetLean, per month, all-in |
|---|---|
| 0.25 mg | S$488 |
| 0.5 mg | S$488 |
| 1 mg | S$488 |
| 1.7 mg | S$788 |
| 2.4 mg | S$788 |
| 7.2 mg | S$1,088 (max dose) |
| First video consultation with Dr Quek (30 minutes) | S$20, refunded in full if he decides medication is not right for you |
| After the taper: daily coaching and a monthly review, no medication | S$88, if you wish |
What the monthly price covers:
- Doctor video consultation and ongoing medical oversight by Dr Quek
- The medication, as prescribed, delivered discreetly to you
- A personalised nutrition and daily activity plan
- Daily WhatsApp coaching, and your care team on WhatsApp from 9am to 9pm every day, Singapore time. Outside those hours an urgent symptom does not wait for a reply: go to an emergency department, or call 995 if it is an emergency.
- Dose reviews that work toward your lowest effective dose
Why the price moves with the dose. The price is set by the dose, so it can change at a monthly review: up to S$788 if Dr Quek steps the dose up past 1 mg (S$1,088 at 7.2 mg, the max dose), and back to S$488 as he steps it down during the taper. Billing is monthly, with the medication included. Which dose suits you, if any, is Dr Quek's decision at your consultation, and the pricing page sets out the whole programme.

What is registered here
Ten product presentations across five dose steps: 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg, 1 mg, 1.7 mg and 2.4 mg. They appear on Singapore's register of therapeutic products classified Prescription Only, approved on 22 February 2023 and 24 March 2023 (HSA register). A registration is granted per presentation, which is why one medicine occupies ten lines.
Prescription Only is a legal classification, not a formality. MOH has stated in Parliament that GLP-1 medicines here may be dispensed only by a registered doctor or a licensed retail pharmacy, against a valid prescription (MOH 2024). Whether this medicine is appropriate for any one person is a decision made by a doctor who has assessed them.
Is Wegovy sold over the counter in Singapore?
No, Wegovy is not sold over the counter in Singapore: every Wegovy product on the Health Sciences Authority's register is classified Prescription Only (HSA register), so a doctor has to prescribe it after assessing you. GLP-1 medicines here may be dispensed only by a registered doctor or a licensed retail pharmacy, against a valid prescription (MOH 2024). At GetLean, Dr Quek decides at a video consultation whether it is clinically appropriate for you, and a consultation does not guarantee a prescription.
The two indications, from the label itself
Section 4.1 of the Singapore product information carries two things, and most coverage of this medicine knows about one of them.
The weight-management indication runs as an adjunct to a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, in adults with an initial BMI of 30 kg/m² or above, or 27 to under 30 in the presence of at least one weight-related comorbidity — the label names dysglycaemia, hypertension, dyslipidaemia, obstructive sleep apnoea and cardiovascular disease as examples. There is also an adolescent indication from age 12 in obesity with body weight above 60 kg (NDF).
The cardiovascular risk-reduction indication stands on its own: reducing the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events in adults with established cardiovascular disease and either obesity or overweight. HSA approved it here on 22 August 2025 (HSA bulletin).
The two indications in section 4.1 of the Singapore product information.
| Indication | Who it covers | Approval | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weight management, as an adjunct to a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity | Adults with an initial BMI of 30 kg/m² or above, or 27 to under 30 with at least one weight-related comorbidity; adolescents from age 12 with obesity and body weight above 60 kg | Products approved on 22 February 2023 and 24 March 2023 | NDF, HSA register |
| Cardiovascular risk reduction | Adults with established cardiovascular disease and either obesity or overweight, to reduce the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events | Indication approved on 22 August 2025 | HSA bulletin |
Two words in that first indication carry more weight than they look: adjunct to. Every trial behind this label studied the medicine alongside diet and activity, and the label licenses it that way. Nothing here was ever tested as the whole intervention.
Is there a dose above 2.4 mg in the Singapore label?
Yes. The label allows the dose to be increased to 7.2 mg once weekly, if needed, for weight management in patients with obesity, after at least four weeks on 2.4 mg, and says to lower it to 2.4 mg if there is no additional clinical improvement in body weight. In Singapore the 7.2 mg dose is given as three 2.4 mg injections, one after another (NDF). It is an optional later step, not a starting dose, and the doctor who assesses the person decides whether it is suitable. The label's wording, the STEP UP trial behind it and what a higher dose would and would not change are set out in Wegovy 7.2 mg in Singapore.
The label's BMI numbers, and ours
They are different numbers, and they are answering different questions.
The label's floor is a BMI of 30, or 27 to under 30 with a weight-related comorbidity. Those are the international cut-offs, and they have not been adjusted for Asian bodies.
Our criteria are a BMI of 25 or more. Anyone can book the first consultation and Dr Quek decides there whether a GLP-1 medication suits you.
The label decides what a specific product is licensed for, and our criteria say who the programme is for. Meeting them is not the same as being suitable for treatment — that is a clinical judgement made at a consultation. Neither number changes what the other says. We set the whole picture out, including Singapore's own national classification and MOH's primary-care protocol, in am I eligible.
What the trials showed
STEP 1 is the trial the weight-management indication rests on. In 1,961 adults with overweight or obesity and without diabetes, mean weight change at 68 weeks was −14.9% with once-weekly semaglutide 2.4 mg compared with −2.4% with placebo. Half the treated group — 50.5%, against 4.9% on placebo — lost at least 15% of body weight (Wilding 2021).
Those are averages across a studied population, measured in a trial that also supplied lifestyle support to both arms. Individual results vary and are not guaranteed. Wegovy side effects covers the side effects, how long they last and the serious ones.
Is it normal to gain weight while taking Wegovy?
Gaining weight while taking Wegovy is not what its trials found on average, but individual results vary, and the trials do not report why it happens to a particular person. In STEP 1, adults on semaglutide 2.4 mg lost 14.9% of body weight on average over 68 weeks against 2.4% on placebo, and 86.4% lost at least 5% (Wilding 2021), so a minority did not reach that mark. The US label does not list weight gain as a side effect (label searched).
Weight does come back when the medicine stops: in the STEP 1 extension, about two-thirds of the lost weight returned within a year of stopping overnight (Wilding 2022). A rising weight on treatment is a reason for a review with the prescribing doctor, not for changing the dose yourself; at GetLean that is Dr Quek, at the monthly review. Book your consult: at GetLean, daily WhatsApp coaching means anything clinical can reach Dr Quek early.
What the cardiovascular indication is, and what it is not
SELECT enrolled 17,604 patients who already had cardiovascular disease and overweight or obesity, and did not have diabetes. Over a mean follow-up of about 40 months, a primary endpoint event — cardiovascular death, non-fatal heart attack or non-fatal stroke — occurred in 6.5% of the semaglutide group and 8.0% of the placebo group, a hazard ratio of 0.80 (Lincoff 2023). Individual results vary and are not guaranteed.
That is the evidence behind the second indication, and its boundaries are part of the finding. It was measured in people with established cardiovascular disease. It is a risk-reduction claim, not a treatment claim, and it says nothing about anyone outside that population.
What the label does not say
It does not say this medicine treats sleep apnoea, high blood pressure, fatty liver or dyslipidaemia.
Those conditions appear in the weight-management indication as examples of a comorbidity that can qualify an overweight person for treatment of their weight. That describes who may be treated, not what is being treated — and the distinction is the label's own, not a piece of caution we have added. GetLean is a weight-management service. A condition someone already has stays with the doctor already managing it.
The question the label does not answer
How much of what comes off is fat.
A registered indication is written in kilograms and BMI points, because that is what the trials measured. It is silent on composition, and composition is what a person is left holding at the end. Rapid loss without enough protein and without resistance training takes lean tissue with it — which is the argument this clinic is built around and is covered in how much muscle you lose on GLP-1 medication.
At GetLean, the programme is designed to end, and our philosophy is that the medication is the catalyst and what you keep is the result. The plan for coming off is the GetLean GLP-1 Taper Plan: after hitting your goal weight with the right nutrition and exercise habits built, the dose is stepped down at Dr Quek's monthly reviews towards your lowest effective dose and, where clinically appropriate, off the medication. Which medicine, if any, is right for someone is decided at the consultation.
What happens when Wegovy is stopped?
In the STEP 1 extension, semaglutide was stopped overnight, with no taper, and the trial's lifestyle support ended the same day; about two-thirds of the lost weight returned within a year (Wilding 2022). That overnight stop is what a planned exit is built to avoid. At GetLean the exit is planned from the first consultation, the habits that hold the result are built with daily WhatsApp coaching while the medication is still working, and the dose is stepped down at Dr Quek's monthly reviews; weaning off GLP-1 explains how a planned taper works. Individual results vary, and trial figures describe the populations studied. Never stop or change a prescribed medicine on your own. Coming off Wegovy walks through the weeks after the last dose, and do you have to take Mounjaro or Wegovy forever? covers how long treatment is meant to last.
What happens after the taper at GetLean?
Finishing the taper does not have to end the support. After the taper, a patient can keep the daily WhatsApp coaching and the monthly reviews with Dr Quek by continuing the monthly subscription, if they wish. If the weight starts coming back, they can come back to Dr Quek at any time: a restart begins with a review consultation, and whether to restart the medication is his decision at that review.
Designed to end: a programme whose pace and taper off the medication are planned from the first consult, so the result holds after the medication stops.
Common questions
How much is Wegovy in Singapore per month?
At GetLean, S$488 a month at 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg and 1 mg, S$788 a month at 1.7 mg and 2.4 mg, and S$1,088 a month at 7.2 mg (max dose), all-in: Dr Quek's consultations and reviews, the medication delivered to you, and daily WhatsApp coaching. The first video consultation is S$20, refunded in full if he decides medication is not right for you. The dose, and so the price, is Dr Quek's decision.
Does the price change when the dose changes?
Yes. The monthly price follows the dose: S$488 at 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg and 1 mg, S$788 at 1.7 mg and 2.4 mg, and S$1,088 at 7.2 mg (max dose). It can move up when Dr Quek steps the dose up and back down as he steps it down during the taper. Billing is monthly, with the medication included.
Can a normal GP prescribe Wegovy?
Yes, if they judge it appropriate after assessing you. Wegovy is registered in Singapore and classified Prescription Only (HSA register), and GLP-1 medicines here may be dispensed only by a registered doctor or a licensed retail pharmacy, against a valid prescription (MOH 2024). At GetLean, Dr Quek assesses you at a video consultation and, if he finds it clinically appropriate, prescribes it and has it delivered to you, at the monthly prices on this page for the doses it lists.
Is Wegovy available without a prescription?
No. Wegovy is classified Prescription Only in Singapore (HSA register), and GLP-1 medicines here may be dispensed only by a registered doctor or a licensed retail pharmacy, against a valid prescription (MOH 2024), so a pharmacy cannot supply it over the counter. HSA has received reports of people hospitalised with severe vomiting after using GLP-1 medicines from overseas or online sellers without a prescription and medical supervision (HSA).
Can I claim Wegovy on MediSave or insurance?
Not as a condition in its own right: as checked on 7 October 2026, obesity is not one of the 23 chronic conditions covered by MediSave's outpatient scheme (MOH). No GLP-1 medicine for weight is on MOH's list of subsidised drugs or the Healthier SG medication list (MOH; Healthier SG list), and the two Integrated Shield Plan wordings checked exclude treatment for obesity and weight reduction (Singlife; Prudential). MOH's rulebook for covered conditions such as diabetes lists weight-loss medication as claimable if clinically indicated and also as not claimable, and it does not say whether a GLP-1 medicine for weight counts (CDMP Handbook). Other insurers have their own wording, so the exclusions section of your own policy is the place to check; MediSave and insurance for GLP-1 in Singapore goes through each scheme.
Is Wegovy available in Singapore?
It is registered here. Ten product presentations across five dose steps appear on Singapore's register of therapeutic products, all classified Prescription Only, approved in February and March 2023 (HSA register). Registered means a doctor may prescribe it where they judge it appropriate; it does not mean anyone can obtain it without an assessment.
What is it registered to be used for in Singapore?
Two things. Weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 to under 30 with at least one weight-related comorbidity; and, separately, reducing the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events in adults who have established cardiovascular disease and either obesity or overweight (NDF).
Is there a dose above 2.4 mg in Singapore?
Yes. The registered label allows an increase to 7.2 mg once weekly, if needed, after at least four weeks on 2.4 mg, given as three 2.4 mg injections (NDF). Whether it suits a person is the assessing doctor's decision.
Does the label's BMI of 27 mean GetLean's threshold is 27?
No. They are different numbers answering different questions. The registered label sets the floor for that product's weight-management indication. Our criteria are a BMI of 25 or more. Anyone can book the first consultation and Dr Quek decides there whether a GLP-1 medication suits you.
How much weight did people lose in the trials?
In STEP 1, mean weight change at 68 weeks was −14.9% with semaglutide 2.4 mg compared with −2.4% with placebo, across 1,961 adults (Wilding 2021). That is a trial average in a studied population. Individual results vary and are not guaranteed.
Does it treat sleep apnoea or high blood pressure?
No. Those conditions appear in the registered indication as examples of a weight-related comorbidity that can qualify someone for weight management. That describes who may be treated for weight, not what is being treated, and it is a distinction the label itself draws.
At GetLean, coming off Wegovy follows the GetLean GLP-1 Taper Plan: the dose is stepped down at Dr Quek's monthly reviews towards the lowest effective dose and, where clinically appropriate, off the medication. Individual results vary.
What happens after the taper at GetLean?
A patient can keep the daily WhatsApp coaching and the monthly reviews with Dr Quek by continuing the monthly subscription, if they wish. If the weight starts coming back, they can come back to Dr Quek at any time; a restart begins with a review consultation, and whether to restart the medication is his decision.
How do I get Wegovy in Singapore?
At GetLean, begin with a S$20, 30-minute video consultation with Dr Quek. He reviews your health history and goals and decides whether Wegovy is appropriate; a consultation does not guarantee a prescription. If he prescribes it, the medication is delivered to you, with daily WhatsApp coaching and monthly reviews.
Is the Wegovy pill available in Singapore?
The Wegovy registered in Singapore is an injection; the 25 mg Wegovy tablet approved abroad is not registered here. The locally registered semaglutide tablet is Rybelsus, at 3 mg, 7 mg and 14 mg for type 2 diabetes, not weight management (HSA register; NDF oral tablet; FDA tablet approval). Wegovy pill in Singapore explains the distinction.
How much is a 3 month supply of Wegovy?
At GetLean, Wegovy is billed monthly according to the dose prescribed: S$488 at 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg and 1 mg, S$788 at 1.7 mg and 2.4 mg, and S$1,088 at 7.2 mg. The total over three months depends on Dr Quek's dose decisions at your reviews; medication is not sold prepaid as a three-month package. The first consultation is S$20; pricing explains what is included.
Why are people stopping Wegovy?
Side effects and planned completion are different questions to discuss with the prescribing doctor. Wegovy side effects covers symptoms and daily contact with the care team; at GetLean, planned coming off follows the GetLean GLP-1 Taper Plan, with dose steps decided at Dr Quek's monthly reviews towards the lowest effective dose and, where clinically appropriate, off the medication. Never stop or change a prescribed medicine on your own.
Is Wegovy the same medicine as Ozempic?
Both contain semaglutide, but Singapore registers Wegovy for weight management and Ozempic for type 2 diabetes (NDF Wegovy; NDF Ozempic). Their labels and dose ranges differ, so the brand names do not make prescriptions interchangeable; Wegovy vs Ozempic explains the distinction.
